one small stone at a time. *
I (1997) started Small Stones Illustration from my small room in The Hague.
After earning my MBO diploma at SintLucas, I had big dreams of studying at an art academy. Unfortunately, that dream didn’t come true. After being rejected, it felt as though the spark inside me had gone out. For several years I distanced myself from art, something that actually didn’t make me happy.
It wasn’t until much later, during my studies in art therapy at HBO (hogeschool Leiden), where I spent a lot of time reflecting deeply on myself, that I gradually began to feel that creative spark again.
For me, art isn’t just something beautiful to look at, it’s something that can evoke emotions and memories. For me, it’s a way to satisfy the itch to create. Through my work, I hope to pass on that same spark to others.
Small Stones was born from the idea that every little stone shapes your life into what it is today, even the ones from rejection.
